Abstract

Administratively, South Tapanuli Regency is bordered by (1). In the north it is bordered by North Padang Lawas Regency; (2). In the south, it is bordered by Mandailing Natal Regency and West Sumatra Province; (3). In the east it is bordered by Padang Lawas Regency; (4). In the west, it is bordered by Mandailing Natal Regency and the Indonesian Ocean. The belief system that existed in the Tapanuli community was initially found to have traditional beliefs which in essence this belief emerged in accordance with human nature as a weak creature and has limited strengths and abilities, then the human or society believes that there is a greater power beyond power himself. After the entry of Islam and Christianity into the Tapanuli area, they gave a new belief that made the Tapanuli community more modern, with a more open way of thinking and made people more aware and openly think about the emergence of renewal.
